Mr. Frank Delmar Payne, 96, of Weaverville, NC, departed this life on Monday morning, May 1, 2017 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home.  
He was born on October 8, 1920 in Madison County, North Carolina to the late Troy Branks and Eulala Massey Payne.  Having lived in Mississippi, Michigan, and Madison County, NC as a youth, he spent the rest of his life in Buncombe County.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Bryan Payne, three sisters, Freda Worley, Jeanne Williams, June Bell, and two brothers, Fred Payne and Bruce Payne.  
He graduated from Walnut High School and then served in the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic in WWII.  He was part owner of Home Electric and Furniture Store in Marshall for about 50 years.  During that time, he made many friends and helped many people.  He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Marshall where he served as a deacon.  He was also a Masonic Lodge member.
He will always be remembered as having a calm manner while most often being quite humorous, extremely gracious, and always ready to spread happiness and service to all he encountered with his stately presence and pleasant smile 
He is survived by one brother, Gerald Payne (Sharonne) of Maiden, NC and three very special brother in laws; Rev. Leo Worley of Brevard, NC, Joel (Bud) Williams of Dalton, Georgia, and Jake Bell of Candler. He had many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 12:00 pm in the First Baptist Church of Marshall.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  The Rev. Buddy Freeman will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Marshall.
