Wilma Kay Bowman

Wilma Kay Bowman, 70, passed away at her home in Fletcher on May 10, 2026.

She was born on November 3, 1955, in Takoma Park, Maryland, to the late Icy May Green. Wilma was known for her kind nature, and those who met her quickly grew fond of her. She was deeply devoted to her children and her animals, and she spent much of her free time outdoors tending to her plants.

She is survived by her four children: sons David Shepherd of Brevard, NC, and Steven Shepherd (Susan) of Swannanoa, NC; and daughters Kelly Shepherd of Falls Church, VA, and Kim Shepherd of East Flat Rock, NC. She is also survived by two brothers, Billy Cole and Rusty Cole, as well as 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Marley.

In addition to her mother, Wilma was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Walker, and her brother, Ricky Cole.

She was very loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
