William Maximo “Max” Floyd, 59, loving husband of 35 years to Sonya Inman Floyd, of Boiling Springs, SC, went to Heaven on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born February 24, 1962, in Summerton, SC, to the late Rev. Herbert Carl and Oneida Soler Floyd. Max is survived by his children, Katie Leatherman (Steven) of Greer, SC, Evan Floyd (Miranda) of Boiling Springs, SC, and his loyal canine companion, Annie. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Judy Fowler (Roland) of Salisbury, NC, Janis Grimes of Spartanburg, SC, Carl Floyd (Nancy) of Asheboro, NC; brothers-in-law, Lee Inman of Boiling Springs, SC, and Billy Inman (Shirlene) of Landrum, SC; uncle, José Soler (Clairis) of Lugoff, SC; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Max was a lifelong United Methodist and a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. He adored his family and was a friend to all. He cherished time spent with family and friends. Max was a courageous inspiration to many with his determined spirit and strong faith. He loved cheering on the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves.
Many thanks to all of the medical staff who have cared for Max over the last fifteen years, especially his favorite nurse and friend, Elizabeth Hassen, PhD.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood St. Spartanburg, SC, 29302. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, Inc., 295 E. Main St. Suite 100 Spartanburg, SC 29302.
