William Lee “Billy” Roberts, 79, of Marshall passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Charles George VA Center in Asheville after a period of declining health.
Billy was born on April 20, 1941 to James Vernon “Buster” Roberts and Pansy Ramsey Roberts.
He was a graduate of Laurel High School and he was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Mr. Roberts was employed for 16 years at the Asheville-Citizen Times and then retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Delba Jean Fortner Roberts; sons, Terry Lee Roberts and Gregory Richard Roberts; and a brother, Dwight Roberts.
He is survived by his twin brother, Robert “Bobby” Roberts as well as James, Jr. (Vergie) Roberts and Alan Roberts, sister Elizabeth Ramsey; grandsons: Drew Gibson, Aaron Roberts, Brandon Roberts (Jade), and Lucas Roberts; niece, Dawn; nephews: Mickey (Rachel), Brian (Debbie), Randy; uncle, Jerry Ramsey; cousin, Darlyne Rhinehart; special friends: Lillian Welenc, Larry Norton, Steve Taylor and Larry Rice; and his trusty companions, Wolf and Sally.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roberts Family Cemetery, Lonesome Mountain Road, Marshall. Services will be conducted by Reverend Willard Norton.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Charles George VA Center and Dr. Curry Jones of the Hot Springs Health Program for the compassionate care extended to Billy.
