Wayne Edwin Gregory of Leicester, North Carolina, died March 25, 2025. Born August 1, 1940, to the late Leila and Parker Gregory in Franklin, North Carolina, he was eighty-four.
Wayne graduated from North Carolina State University in 1969 with a degree in Animal Science. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Wayne worked with Farmers Home Administration and enjoyed gardening, farming and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed caring for his cattle.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Greig, Ruby Ammons, Bill Gregory, Charles Gregory, Keith Gregory and Hayes Gregory.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Curtis Gregory, to whom he was married fifty-five years; daughters, Martha Gregory Bragg of Marion, North Carolina, and Pam Gregory Seymour of Leicester; and granddaughters, Laney Allen Bragg of Marion and Leila Ann Bragg of Morganton, North Carolina. Wayne had several nieces and nephews of whose lives he was very proud.
A service will be held at eleven o’clock the morning of April 4, 2025, at Big Sandy United Methodist Church. Sandy Devoid will officiate. Burial will occur in Franklin, North Carolina, at a later date. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital for the excellent care Wayne received while hospitalized. Memorials may be made to Charles George Department of Veterans Affairs Medical in Asheville, North Carolina. They would also like to thank all the friends and family for their kind words.
