Walter Marion Goldsmith Sr., 89, of Candler passed away Sunday, May 6, 2024 at the Yancey House in Burnsville, NC. Born April 11, 1935 in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late William Marion Goldsmith and Sarah Goldsmith. He had a Christian heart and was an avid gardener with a green thumb. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his spouse, Martha Marie Goldsmith; children, Tim Goldsmith and Sherry Carver; and siblings, Roy Goldsmith, Evelyn Hanie, Helen Hanie, and Mark Goldsmith. Surviving are his children, Walter M. Goldsmith Jr. and his spouse, Judy, of Swannanoa, NC, Gary L. Goldsmith of Arden, NC, David E. Goldsmith and his spouse, Gwen, of Candler, NC, Russell D. Goldsmith and his spouse, Alicia, of Hot Springs, NC, and J. Michael Goldsmith and his spouse, Rhonda, of Marshall, NC; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life/cookout/get-together at Charles D. Owen Park, shelter #2, on May 25, 2024. Friends and family can come by anytime throughout the day starting at 11 am.
