Obituary

Todd Eric Walker, born May 12, 1971, was a light among us. He left this life at the age of 52 on August 31, 2023. Todd was an amazing husband to Katie and the sweetest father to Clare, Lillian and Jade. He was so proud of his daughters and their strong spirits and genuine hearts. He loved them fiercely. Todd was so very cherished and dear to his wife, Katie. They were blessed with 25 years of adventures together, and he was a steadfast support to Katie, her partner in life-affirming adventures, and a guiding light in their partnership. Todd grew up in western Massachusetts, attended undergraduate school at University of New Hampshire and graduate school at Daoist Traditions College in Asheville. He was in a masters program for sustainability studies at Lenoir Rhyne University at the time of his death. He met Katie in Idaho while working in the field of Wilderness Therapy for adolescents and they eventually moved to North Carolina to continue their work with youth. Many of the friendships and connections they forged upon their move to North Carolina have remained a vital and important part of their family life. Todd has always been drawn to helping others and was a natural healer. He began his schooling for Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 2003. Soon after, he and Katie welcomed their first child and began their family, which has been their greatest joy. Todd practiced Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for 16 years in Asheville, NC. He treated countless patients as a gifted healer, was an adventurer who found solace in the outdoors, and was a person who truly connected heart-to-heart with others. He loved to cook for his family and take them for a paddle on the water. He was a dancer and a drummer. He was a poet and a gardener. He was a builder of communities. Todd's light burned so very bright and strong. He elevated others with his empathy, his listening, his desire to celebrate alongside others. He strove to create an environment ripe for health and healing for each person. For years, his desire to choose joy, adventure and family enabled him to stay ahead of his chronic pain condition. Todd leaves behind family members he loved so deeply- parents William & Carol Walker, brothers and spouses Jeff & Alana Walker, Scott & Mary Ellen Walker, nephew William and niece Meredith. His extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and chosen family members were so very important to Todd. One of his greatest joy was connecting with his family and friends, widening his circle of "family," and being there for others. Todd was a creator of and contributor to all things better. Todd was intensely loved and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
