Timothy “Tim” Joseph Hardy

Timothy “Tim” Joseph Hardy, 76, of Asheville, NC passed away on January 23, 2026 at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. Born on August 16, 1949 in New York, NY to the late Cosmo Francis Hardy and Madeline A. McLaughlin Hardy. In addition to his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Hardy and William Hardy.

Tim graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. He dedicated 18 years of his career to Toyota Manufacturing of Indiana. A devoted Buddhist and longtime Shambhala practitioner, he approached life with curiosity, mindfulness, and compassion. He cared deeply about the lives and rights of others and remained thoughtfully engaged with the world throughout his life. He loved hiking, exploring the outdoors, and embracing every opportunity to learn and grow.

Surviving is his loving spouse of 34 years, Laurin Sutherland Hardy of Asheville, NC; children, Anna Jean Hardy (Saffer Elder) of Charlotte, NC, Alexander Glenn Hardy of Chicago, IL; and brother, Peter Hardy (Patricia) of Tarpon Springs, FL.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Gail Cooke and Gwen Williamson, along with the compassionate staff of Elizabeth House, for their exceptional care and support.
