Thomas Lee Wells, a man who embraced life with a relaxed spirit and boundless enthusiasm, was born on August 17, 1948, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Carleton and Evelyn Wells. Growing up in his hometown, Tom graduated from Jackson High School before pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Mankato State University.
Tom's entrepreneurial drive was evident early on. He skillfully built upon the foundation laid by his father, transforming Wells Bus Service into a thriving enterprise. His vision extended beyond this, as he played a key role in establishing numerous other businesses in both Jackson and Estherville, Iowa. A natural builder with a knack for working with his hands, Tom later embarked on a successful second career as a home builder in the sunny locales of Florida and North Carolina.
Among Tom's greatest joys was time spent with family at their cabin on McClelland's Beach. These gatherings were filled with friendly competition over cards and games, exhilarating boat rides on the lake, the spectacle of annual Fourth of July fireworks, and countless cherished meals shared throughout the years. His passions also included cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and his favorite Nascar drivers, enjoying a game of pool, or hitting the links for a round of golf. Tom's adventurous spirit led him on travels across the globe, with a particular fondness for any destination boasting a beautiful beach. In his later years, Tom proudly became a member of the Brevard American Legion and VFW. Tom lived his life to the fullest, effortlessly forging friendships wherever he went and leaving a legacy of wonderful memories for all who knew him.
On April 19th, at the age of 76, Tom peacefully passed away of natural causes at Mission Health Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. A celebration of Tom's vibrant life will be held on May 10th at 3:00 PM at the American Legion in Brevard, North Carolina.
Tom's memory will be cherished by his children, Lincoln (Michelle) Wells and Tara (Paul) Hansen; his five grandchildren: Tailyr (Nick) Klug, Faith (Jack) Ringkob, Lane Hansen, Maya Wells, and Jameson Wells; and his two great-grandchildren, Jack and Gemma Klug. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis (Rita) Wells, Donald (Karen) Wells, and David Wells; his loving girlfriend, Jackelyn Jarvis; and numerous other relatives and friends.
