Thomas Lee Barnes

Thomas Lee Barnes, 56, of Candler passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, NC. Born April 25, 1967 he was the son of Edward Barnes of Candler and the late Betty Burnette Collins. He was a graduate of Enka High School class of 1985, and had worked in landscaping most of his life. Thomas was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. Of his many enjoyments in life spending time in a river fishing for trout, big game hunting, and primitive style camping by the water were among his favorites. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sisters, Mary Price of Asheville, Andrea Baker of Candler, and Kimberly Matthews and her spouse, Jamey, of Old Fort; nephews, Aaron Scott Garner and his spouse, Jordyn, of Bossier, LA, Hunter Gosnell and his spouse, April, of Stoneville, and Nathan Barnes of Candler; and nieces, Emily Barnes and Heather Climbingbear and her spouse, Alex, all of Candler. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Rev. Hunter Gosnell officiating.
