Terri Laminack Shea, 67, peacefully passed away in Asheville, North Carolina on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 after a long fight with Multiple System Atrophy. Terri was born on March 12, 1953 in Fairfax, Virginia to Fred and Shirley Laminack while her father was stationed at Fort Belvoir. She moved throughout her childhood, graduating from Opelousas Senior High School with the class of 1971. This is where she met the love of her life, John Robert Shea. Terri graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette. Terri worked most of her career at Layfayette General Medical Center as the Rehabilitation Nursing Manager. She enjoyed meeting new people, traveling, dining in restaurants, but most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John, daughters, Lindsey and husband Dr. Charles Phillips of Asheville, North Carolina, Lauren and husband David Hernandez, Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren Caroline, Kate, and Graham Phillips, Chloe and Finn Hernandez; sisters, Lisa Pfister and husband Mike, Cathy Snyder and husband Lee, brother-in-law, Dr. William L. Shea and wife Dorothy, her aunt, Ural Coppage, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Shirley Laminack and her mother-in-law, Madelyn Shea. A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held on July 26, 2020 at the Starview Heights Club House in Weaverville, North Carolina. A private family ceremony at Lake Lure will follow which will be Terri’s final resting place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 162 Free Hill Rd, Johnson City, TN 37615, in honor of Terri.
