Terrence L. Getman

Terence L. Getman, 74, passed away January 31, 2021. Terry was born February 14, 1946 and was a native of Western New York. He was predeceased in death by his parents Charles and Beatrice Getman, brother Billy Getman, and special “father” Skip Gibbs. Terry had a long, dedicated career in law enforcement. He worked for Helmuth, NY Public Safety, Gowanda, NY Police Department, NC Department of Corrections, and was Chief of Police in Hot Springs, NC. He also proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter in South Dayton, NY and Hot Springs, NC. Terry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carole Getman, daughters Lisa (Kevin) Valentine, Colleen (Tim) Brunswick, and Jennifer (Rick) Miller all of Fredonia, NY, Kim (Travis) Freeman of Marshall, NC, and Kara (David) Walker of Candler, NC; grandchildren Jillian (Shaun), Kaleigh, McKenna, Mason, Matthew (Megan), Lacey (Clellan), and Cassidy (Jake); great grandchildren Deacan, McKayley, and Myla; and special brothers Mark and John Gibbs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four-Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. No service will be held at this time. Cremation rites were honored by Asheville Area Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services.
