In loving of memory of Stella Ann Stewart
Stella Ann Olbrys Zatezelo Stewart, 89, of Woodfin, NC passed away peacefully in her sleep, on June 15, at River Bend Health and Rehabilitation, in Asheville, NC.
Stella was born to Mary and John Olbrys on April 1, 1936, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Ambridge High School in the summer of 1954. She spent most of her life in Monaca, Pennsylvania raising her four children and enjoying being a grandmother and a great grandmother. She was a strong independent woman who raised her four children on her own.
Surviving her are her sister Patricia Olbrys-Syrko (Bob), her brother Rich Olbrys (Nancy) and children Steve Zatezalo (Lisa), Dan Zatezalo (Claudette), Sue Zatezalo Lantz (Rick) and Diana Zatezalo Lynn. In addition, she had six granddaughters Rachel Lantz Nevin (Josh), Rebecca Lantz Hawthorne (Hayden), Julie Lantz (Josh), Jessica Zatezalo, Amanda Zatezalo McKenzie (Tim), and Marissa Zatezalo Carver (Martin) and her great grandchildren Raegan Breese, Haylee Hawthorne, Patrick Hays, Lyndi Hays and Thomas Carver and her step grandson Beau Prisuta.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Mary and John Olbrys, her brother John Olbrys, Her sister Lorretta Olbrys Horton, her first husband Steve Zatezalo and her second husband Bob Stewart.
Her hobbies included singing, and she had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang often in church, and it brought joy to many. Stella spent most of her life attending church at the Monaca Church of the Nazarene where she was a Sunday school teacher. Most recently she attended the First Baptist Church in Weaverville. One of her favorite things to do was to take drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway and exploring the beauty of western North Carolina. Many evenings were spend playing cards with her family. She was an avid reader who would often finish a book within days. Stella was enthusiastic about watching the game show network later in life and she especially enjoyed the Family Feud and Jeopardy.
Stella retired from a long career at what was formerly known as US Airways. She enjoyed the benefits of using her flight privileges to travel and visit family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
