Roger Hartner, of Marshall, NC, went home to Jesus on September 9, 2022, at age 79, following a battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, Mars Hill, with Fr. David McNair officiating. Roger Ernest Hartner was born on June 5, 1943, in Norfolk, NE(Madison County). He was the second of four children of Herman and Dorothy Hartner of Madison. Roger married Eneida Massas on January 27th, 1968 in Gary, IN. They had one son, Ryan, born April 12, 1981. Roger worked 35 years as a clinical social worker and guidance counselor in Florida. Retiring to the Marshall community, he utilized his clinical skills and love for his Lord in serving others through Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, the Rotary, and neighborhood opportunities. Roger touched many lives in his walk of life as a child of God. His “Can Do” attitude and quick wit reflected his love for life. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eneida, son Ryan, and companion Tatyana Shkolnik. Roger is survived by three siblings Norma Cholcher, Dennis Hartner(Sue), and Doug Hartner(Shelley), nieces and nephews,Tatyana’s children Max Shkolnik(Tami) and Julie Ciriello, grandchildren Matthew and Addison Shkolnik, Leo and Alexandria Ciriello.
