Robert "Bob" Willems

With heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Willems, 84, of Marshall, NC, who departed this world surrounded by his loving family on July 31, 2024. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Bob was born and raised in Fort Pierce, FL, and moved to Marshall, NC, with his wife in 2000. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Rita L. Willems. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared countless cherished memories. Their enduring partnership serves as an inspiration to their family and friends. Bob and Rita were also dedicated members of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Mars Hill, NC.

He leaves behind six loving children: Brenda, Debra, Bridgette, Alex, Nick, and Brian. Bob was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support.

Bob is also survived by his two brothers, Alan and Leo Willems, who shared many treasured moments with him throughout their lives.

Bob's life was marked by his dedication to his family and his commitment to his community. He was a successful entrepreneur known for his inventive spirit, operating his business 'Bob's TV,' where he sold and repaired TVs and constructed TV antenna towers. Bob, along with his brother Leo, enjoyed hosting family celebrations, including a memorable "haunted house" that delighted and spooked many over the years. Together, they embarked on numerous projects, including building the haunted house, a hydroponic garden, and numerous other inventive endeavors.

Bob spent countless hours on various building projects, showcasing his creativity and passion for inventing. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed fishing and loved nature.

He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his warmth, and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with expenses for Robert's beloved spouse, Rita Willems, would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held on August 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, NC 28804, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share their memories.

Bob Willems will forever be in our hearts, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
