Rita Faye Taylor Abers

Rita Faye Taylor Abers, 71, of Leicester, NC peacefully passed away at the Hospice Solace Center in Asheville, NC on June 17, 2025.

Rita was born on June 4, 1954 in Norfolk, VA to the late Homer Guy Taylor and Lillian Ann Ball Dowdy (2004). She is also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Earl Radford.

Rita was a resident of Leicester, NC for 11 years. She enjoyed being a mother and a nanny.

Surviving Rita is her previous husband of 30 years, Thomas Abers; daughters, Melissa Radford of Marshall, NC, Kimberly Radford of Leicester, NC, Tabatha Mars (Scott) of Marshall, NC; son, Christian Radford (Alisha) of Leicester, NC; brothers, Michael Taylor (Debbie) of Asheville, NC, Roger Dowdy (Vicky) of Leicester, NC; sister, Vicky Baker of Asheville, NC; grandsons, Michael Roberts of Marshall, NC, Travis Roberts of Marshall, NC, Jacob Roberts of Marshall, NC, Toby Mace of Asheville, NC, Conner Austin of Marshall, NC, Tristen Radford of Asheville, NC, Grayson Radford of Leicester, NC, Noah Radford of Leicester, NC; granddaughters, Shelby Mace of Marshall, NC, Elizabeth Mars of Marshall, NC, Aubrey Mars of Marshall, NC, Althea Mars of Marshall, NC, Candace Radford of Asheville, NC; and 3 great-greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service officiated by Dennis Anderson will be held at 12:00 PM on June 19, 2025 at Freedom Christian Church. Rita will then be laid to rest at Dry Pond Cemetery.
