Rickie Dean Edwards

Rickie Dean Edwards, 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Autumn Care Health Center in Waynesville, NC. He was born on April 6, 1950 in Asheville, NC, where he was a lifelong resident. He moved to Waynesville two years ago along with his wife. Rickie was the son of Betty Jo Dills Edwards and Rufus Alfonzo Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Edward O’Leary, as well as sisters Janice and Joan Edwards. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joann Shelton Edwards; granddaughter, Keely Marie O’Leary, and grandson, Sylas Raine O’Leary. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was very close to his wife’s family as well. Rickie retired from the City of Asheville, a job he enjoyed and where he made many friends. He loved cars, working on his truck, riding motorcycles, playing with his beloved Chinese pug dogs, watching Disney movies with his granddaughter, and vacationing at the beach. He had a cheerful and caring disposition and was eager to help everyone. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held at Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and at Lake Louise in Weaverville. The care of Rickie has been entrusted to Asheville Area Alternative Funeral Services where an online memorial register is available.
