Richard Ernest Carter, 75, of Weaverville, NC, passed away on September 8, 2024 at his home. Rick was born in Waynesville, NC on August 17, 1949, to the late William Ernest Carter and Mary Frances Landon Carter. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Carter; son, Billy Carter; and step-daughter, Tamara Gragg. Rick graduated from North Buncombe High School and later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He owned and operated Appalachian Remodeling and Construction for many years. Rick enjoyed casting a line as often as he could, especially on Lake Russell from his Triton boat. Surviving Rick are his son, Todd Duckett (Tonya) of Marshall, NC; daughter, Lisa Maxwell (Wayne) of Texas; his previous wife, Kaye Carter; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family would like to give a special thanks to Steve Kiser, Larry Landon, and Amanda Pace. A private service will be held per Rick’s request.
