Rebecca "Becky" Carpenter of Asheville, NC, passed away in her home on July 17, 2020. She was 71 years old and a lifelong resident of Asheville. She was the daughter of Rose Gwaltney, formerly of Leicester, England, longtime resident of Asheville, and the late James Gwaltney. She was preceded in death by brothers Bobby Gwaltney, Johnny Gwaltney and Tommy Gwaltney, and grandson Cory Fox.
Becky is survived by her husband, Randy Carpenter, of the home, sons Jimmy Fox (Lori) of Weaverville, Timmy Fox (Lana) of Winston-Salem, Mike Fox (Darla) of Hudson, Bobby Fox, Ricky Fox, David Fox and Randy Fox, all of Asheville, brothers Keith Gwaltney (Donna), Andrew Gwaltney (Mary), and sister Kathy King (Jerry), her grandchildren who she treasured more than anything in the world, Seth, Colby, Heath, Selah, Savannah, Ricky, Amber, Jacob, Stacey, Josie, Travis, Ron, Brian, Jamie, great granddaughter Ava, and many more great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Becky worked for Woodfin Elementary School in the cafeteria where she loved serving children from the mid 1970s until the mid 1980s. She then went to work at Grove Park Inn in many capacities, but most recently as the elevator operator where she loved her job meeting people from all over the country. She retired from Grove Park Inn after nearly 30 years of service. Her family will remember her for the laughter and love she shared with them throughout their years together, and the never ending love and support she gave them all.
