Porter Ralph Massey

Porter Ralph Massey, 90, of Bryson City, NC passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mission Hospital.

Porter was born on April 4, 1935 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Perry Mack Massey (1972) and Thelma Hudgins Massey (1973). He is also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Massey; son, Ralph James Massey; and brother, James Howard Massey.

Porter proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a Plant worker. He loved gardening, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and dog, Diesel.

Surviving Porter is his daughter, Keela Curry (Terry) of Bryson City, NC; son, Elvis McCurry of Black Mountain, NC; granddaughters, Misty Curry, Kayla (Doug) Lewis; great granddaughters, Aa’laya Lewis, Breanna Curry, Alexis Curry; great grandsons, Chrisitan Hensley Curry, Tristan Curry; and a host of loving relatives, friends, and caregivers.

Porter will be laid to rest at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery located at 962 Old U.S. 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Ralph and his Daughter shared an amazing bond. Keela states, “I truly loved my daddy more than he will ever know. He would help anyone he could. He was a great man.”
