Phillip R. “Big Phil” Lytle, 76, of Black Mountain, NC passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Born June 3, 1948 in Buncombe County, NC, he was a son of Lawrence and Willie Johnson Lytle. He attended Charles D. Owen High School and was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church in Black Mountain, NC. He was employed by Micromatic Textron Inc. for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandmother, Lois Lytle; brothers, James, Wallace, Charles, and Leon Lytle, sister, Mozelle Lynch, and brother-in-law, Rev. James Lytle. Surviving are his children, Phillip Lytle of East Flat Rock, NC, Philethea Singleton and her spouse, Edward, of Black Mountain, NC, David Lytle of Black Mountain, Marquita Smith of Asheville, NC and Diane Speas (daughter in law) of Fayetteville, NC; siblings, Minnie Moore, Evelina Lytle, Wihelmina and her spouse, Kelce, all of Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Tyson Holloway and his spouse, Jayma, Asa Holloway, Phillip Lytle, Kyra Holloway, Jordan Lytle, Tyler Lytle, Isaiah Waddell, Andrea Cassidy, Raelynn Hanks and grandchild by love, Courtney Smith; a host of great grandchildren; his former spouse and lifelong friend, Victoria Lytle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, with visitation an hour prior, on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Mills Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Hill officiating. Interment service will follow at New Oak Grove Cemetery. The family would like to thank Emerald Sams (Swannanoa Valley Healthcare) and the staff at Care Partners Solace Center especially his Hospice nurse Rebecca Upton for their compassionate care.
