Peter Syme Obituary

Peter Salmon Syme, 83, of Flat Rock, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Born on December 16, 1937, he was a native of Michigan and moved to North Carolina in 1982. Peter was a barber of several years and a plumbing instructor at BRCC.

He is the son of the late John Cowper Syme and Margaret Elizabeth Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his brother, John Cowper Syme Jr.

Peter shared his life with his beloved spouse of 61 years, Shirley (Van Dusen) Syme. He is also survived by his two sons, Philip Robert Syme (Donna); and Patrick Syme (Debbie); daughter, Penne Syme Allman; sister, Elizabeth Syme Greene Owen; grandchildren, Christopher Syme; Brandon Syme; Helen Syme; Jack Bass (Jessica); and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peter will be greatly missed by his fur babies, Peanut, Buddy, and Molly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Upward Community Center, 5749 Howard Gap Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
