Paula Rollins Obituary

Paula Rollins, 72, of Alexander, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at home. Born September 22, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Eileen Fletcher. In 1970, she graduated from Gaithersburg High School. She later pursued a career with, and retired from, the U.S. Postal Service.

Of Paula's many passions in life, taking a long ride on her motorcycle, gardening, spending time with her family, and hiking, fed her soul. She hiked many miles immersing herself in the Blue Ridge landscape she called Home. She recorded her experiences in photograph and posted her delights on Facebook for the enjoyment of others. One of her many feats was the "100 Miles in 90 Days" hiking challenge she successfully completed in 2022, at the age of 70. During the same year, she conquered a 24-mile round trip hike of Mount Le Conte which rises over 5,300 feet in elevation from its base. To say she persevered is an understatement.

Paula is remembered by many for her humble heart, witty humor, unwavering compassion, indomitable spirit, and for a friendship that was freely given and always cherished. Because of Paula's love for her friends, her sibling, Carol, graciously shared the title of "sister" with several of Paula's closest friends that genuinely considered her a part of their families. Her listening ear, sound reasoning, and empathetic exchange was cherished and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Pamela Burdette and James Fletcher; and son, Cody Blevins. Surviving are her spouse of 16 years, Randy Rollins; son, Isaiah Padgett and his wife, Tanya, of Swannanoa, NC; sister, Carol Gregg and her spouse, Wayne, of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren, Brennan Chayce Blevins, Paige Fogle, Kaylee Patton, and Bryson Padgett; great-grandchildren, Brayden Banks, and Hudson Patton; and stepchildren, Travis Rollins, Justin Rollins, and Caleb Rollins.

No formal services will be held at this time.
