Patricia Ann Ball, born on February 1, 1947, in Haywood County, North Carolina, passed away on April 19, 2025, in Asheville at the age of 78.
Born to Geraldine Styles and James Massie, Patricia—known to many as Pat—grew up in western North Carolina. She attended Enka High School and later earned an associate's degree from Haywood Community College. Her professional life was marked by dedication and compassion through her work as a program administrator at Aston Park Healthcare Center until her retirement.
Pat cherished time with her family and had a deep love for travel. She often combined these passions on memorable cruises and trips abroad to destinations such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, United Kingdom and Mexico. At home, she found joy in gardening, quilting, and birdwatching—pursuits that reflected her appreciation for beauty and nature.
She is survived by her sons, James Robertson and Charles Ball; two grandchildren, Ricki Herdman and Emrys Anderson; her sister, Helen Roberts; her brother, Steve Massie; and two nieces, Marcie Ownbey and Emily Whitmire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to the North Carolina Arboretum.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
