Pat Jewsbury left this life and entered the next on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. She was born in Benton, IL on Dec. 2, 1937, and had been a resident of Asheville for the last 62 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Ieleen Rea. She leaves her husband Wayne Jewsbury after 68 years of marriage and her loving daughter Julie Jewsbury. Pat attended the music school at Mac Murray College in Jacksonville, IL. Although Pat had a wide range of vocations, her passion remained sacred religious music. She was an accomplished pianist and vocal soloist.
She was a remarkable homemaker and over the years held a wide variety of jobs outside the home. She was the music secretary at First Baptist Church Asheville for many years. She loved working with children’s choirs and also taught piano lessons. One of her many delights was cruising junk stores seeking antiques that she and Julie could sell in their booth at one of the local antique malls.
She cared deeply for her many friends, loved to travel and entertain, and was and exceptional decorator, cook, and gardener and was a volunteer at Solace for many years.
She invested ceaselessly in caring for her husband and daughter and always brought joy into their lives. She will be sorely missed.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6th. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Sanctuary and Organ fund at FBC. She will be laid to rest in the Sacred Garden at the church.
