Nancy Jane Norman Taylor, 89, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 12th, 2025 at Elizabeth House - Four Seasons Hospice in Flatrock, NC.
Nancy was born December 16th, 1935 in Asheville, NC, the daughter of Charles E Norman & Willie Edna Norman.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband John Alan Taylor. Nancy and John met at Asheville Biltmore College while out on a double date. They knew from the start that they were meant to be.
Nancy worked as a secretary at Lucy Herring School for many years where she made some of her life long friends. Nancy was a member of Central United Methodist and a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels for over 20 years.
In her retirement, she gave her time, love, and energy with generous abundance. She enjoyed time with her family, lunch dates with friends, walks in the mountains, days spent in her beautiful garden, and canasta with anyone foolish enough to challenge her.
Preceding Nancy in death are husband, John Alan Taylor; parents, Charles E Norman and Willie Edna Norman; sister, JoAnn Norman Howse.
Remaining to cherish Nancy’s memory are children, Alan Taylor (John Bevis) and Debbie Taylor-Hamilton (Lee Hamilton); grandchildren, Danielle Hamilton (Travis Marsh) and Haley Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Riley Marsh and Lincoln Marsh; brothers, Don Norman (Bobbi Norman) and Charlie Norman (Roni Norman)
Family, friends, and others whose lives Nancy touched are invited to a celebration of Nancy’s life on Sunday, June 22nd from 2:00-4:00 PM at Nancy’s Home in Asheville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy’s memory may be directed to Haywood Street Congregation.
