Myrna Jane Moore Ray

Myrna Jane Moore Ray, age 87, of Barnardsville, NC passed away on December 7, 2025 at The Greens of Weaverville in NC.  Myrna was born in Laurel, MS on September 30, 1938 to the late Eddie Moore and Lillie Mae Jordan Moore.

Myrna was a graduate of John McDonough Sr. High School.  She was an avid animal lover but was most passionate about her dogs.  She loved to travel and spent many Christmases on the Outer Banks.  Throughout her life, she worked for Rocket Dyne Ind. in MS where the rocket engines were tested for the moon and space missions.  She also had worked in industry and retail.  She worked in the Buncombe County Commissioners Office and retired from the Buncombe County Health Department.  She was a long time member of the Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church.  She had a passion for shopping and loved everyone she met.

Myrna is preceded in death by her husband, Hoyle B. Ray.  She is also preceded in death by both her son, Richard B. Ray, and her grandson, Jonathan B. Ray.  She is survived by her other son, Timothy E. Ray, of Barnardsville, NC; her daughter, Melody J. Martin, of Norcross, GA; her grandchildren, Joshua B. Ray, and Tim B. Ray, both of Barnardsville, NC; and her great-grandchildren, Mason G. Ray, Tanner B. Ray, and Rikilynn G. Ray, all of Barnardsville, NC.
