Mildred Alene Barnwell

Mildred Alene Barnwell, 90, of Fairview passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville. Born September 6, 1931 in Buncombe County, NC, she was a daughter of the late E.L. Gentry and Irene Lance Gentry. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Barnwell, and a daughter, Mary Louise. In 1948, she graduated from Woodfin High School. After several years of service, she retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a member of Emma’s Grove Baptist Church where she loved helping out and service meals to others. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and canning her green beans. Surviving are her children: Gordon, Karla, Victor, Jeffrey, Suzie, Christopher, and Amy; several siblings; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joshua Wynn officiating.
