Mary Evelyn Reemes

Mary Evelyn Reemes, 74, of Waynesville passed away on June 25, 2020 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesville after a 40 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Born March 29, 1946 in Juliet, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Alvin Hunnicutt and Georgia Mae Chambers Hunnicutt.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Hunnicutt.  She was employed as a cook by the Alaskan Railroad for many years.  She has always enjoyed arts and crafts especially painting and beadwork, but one of her favorite hobbies was working jigsaw puzzles.  Surviving are her children; Charles Reemes of Monticello, GA, Edd Reemes and his spouse, Shelia, of Burnsville, NC, and Sharon Reemes Mathews and her spouse, John, of Canton, NC; grandchildren; Andy Waldrop and his child, Tucker, Lauren Reemes Brake and her children, Addison and Aubrey, Alexandria Decker and Adam Luv both proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Cole Mathews.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Good News Baptist Church in Candler, NC with Rev. Steve Smith officiating.
