Mary “Joan” MacKay Duncan

Mary “Joan” MacKay Duncan, age 83, of Asheville, NC passed away on March 7, 2026 at The Greens at Weaverville.  Joan was born on June 11, 1942 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Alexander Miller MacKay and Josephine Helen Ann MacIsaac MacKay.

Joan was a Tibetan Buddhist that wrote poetry, enjoyed gardening, and was an artist.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Hugh” Crenshaw Duncan.  She is survived by her siblings, William Wallace MacKay and Margaret MacKay Farmer, both of Asheville, NC.  She is also survived by her nieces, Trina Bellingham, of Philadelphia, PA, Christine Farmer-Gosselin, of Seattle, WA, and Ellie Sperry, of Royal Oak, MI.
