LYLE THOMAS PARRISH, 91
Died at his home in Weaverville, NC on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Lyle was born September 8, 1929 in Barnesboro, PA. The eldest of eight children of Ferdinand and Ella Marie (Kline) Parrish.
He attended St. Michael’s School and graduated from Ebensburg High School Class of 1947.
He received a BA in Economics from St. Francis University in 1951.
During the Korean War Lyle served in the Army Security Agency in the Philippines. Upon his return, he obtained a BS in Education from St. Francis University, a MA in Administration from Columbia University and a MS in Library Science from LI University.
He taught Math and Library Science for 34 years at Lindenhurst Schools. Lyle was the owner of a fine jewelry business for over 50 years.
Lyle loved travelling and toured over 30 countries in Europe and the Far East as well as the 50 states and Canada.
Lyle was an avid fisherman traveling annually to Sitka, AK, San Diego, CA and Montauk, NY. He was also a Master Beekeeper for over 50 years.
Lyle served on the Babylon Village School Board. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, the Long Island Yacht Club, RTAL, NY State Employee Union, the American Legion and EAGA of Asheville, NC.
Lyle is survived by his wife Arden (Little) of 63 years, his six children: Karen Parrish Deesing of Babylon, NY; Craig (Peggi Kearns) Parrish of Babylon, NY; J. Scott (Diana Klug) Parrish of San Diego, CA; Whitney McGrath of Asheville, NC; Douglas (Jackie Kerrut) of Poulsbo, WA and Deirdre Spaulding of North Providence, RI; 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Loretto, PA where his family has been buried dating before the Revolutionary War.
