Lisa Kay Nelson Boone, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on May 29, 2024. She was born on November 16, 1954 to Johnny Mack and Janice Woosley Nelson in Kernersville, NC.
Lisa was known as an empathetic and a compassionate nurse at Mission Hospital for 30 years and at Asheville Pediatrics for eight years. Lisa received Mission/St. Joseph Hospitals' Nurse of the Year award in 2010. According to Lisa, her life's calling was being a mother with love, guidance, dedication, encouragement and patience which she got to do for 47 years.
Lisa's faith and trust in God carried her through a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. The family wishes to thank her doctors and caregivers who spent endless time developing treatment plans and encouraging her.
With her parents, left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Boone; sons, Ethan Boone and Jackson Boone; daughter, Stacey Fox (Rick); brother, Jonathan Nelson (Christine); nephew, Parker Nelson; niece, Sophie Nelson (Henry); cousins, Jeff Gordon, Rosemary Earhart and Martha Autry; sisters-in-law, Peggy Fender (Allen) and Shelia Boone; niece, Allison Fender; dear friends, Cindy Tate and Annette Shook; the boys, Buddy, Jake and Andrew; the tiny loves of her heart, Thomas and Riley; Hank, the family fury companion; and many friends.
Upon Lisa's request, her ashes will be spread at the horse barn and at the lake on her grandparents' farm in Kernersville, NC where she spent much time during her childhood. A memorial service will be held at that time.
