Lillian Anna Rentell Kain, 96, of Asheville, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the Fleshers Fairview Retirement and Healthcare in Fairview, NC. Born February 6, 1925, in New Haven, CT, she was a daughter of the late Gustav John Rentell and Augusta Winat Rentell. She was a graduate of Hamden High School class of 1943 and resided in Hamden, CT until relocating to Asheville, NC in 1989 after the death of her husband, Eugene A. Kain, in 1985. Of her many hobbies, she enjoyed gardening and traveling the most. For 25 years, Lillian served as the cashier at the Daylily Sale for Child Abuse Prevention / Mountain Child Advocary Center held annually in Fairview. Mrs. Kain also volunteered for the Reynolds Fire Auxiliary and served as Woodfield HOA Chair. Surviving are her children, Cheryl Alderman and her spouse, Douglas, of Spring Hill, TN, and Jeffrey Kain and his spouse, Marcia, of Oviedo, FL; brother, Robert Rentell of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren: Claire Meibers and her spouse, Miles, Drew Alderman and his partner, Ashley Obregon, Christopher Kain, and Olivia Glazer and her spouse, Michael; and four great-granddaughters. A private burial will be at Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden, CT.
