Kimberley Sands

        Kimberley (“Kim”) Sands, seventy-one, died April 9, 2025, at home in Newland, North Carolina. She was born July 24, 1953, to the late Margaret Walmsley Sands and George Dewey Sands in Richmond, Virginia.

            She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Washington College, then a Master’s from the College of William and Mary. Kim was retired from her work as a copy editor and graphic designer for publications. She had an interest in classic movies.

            Kim is survived by her husband, Mark Ellis Thomas, to whom she was married forty-two years, and by her brother, William D. Sands of Arlington, Virginia.

            Interment will be in the memorial garden of Crossnore Presbyterian Church. The family extends thanks to Medi-Home Hospice.
