June Conklin Obituary

June I. “Junie” Coney Conklin, 75, passed away on June 15, 2024. Born on August 25, 1948 in Monticello, NY to her beloved parents, the late Donald Francis Coney and Isabelle Morris Coney.

We are so sorry to bid farewell to June, aka mom, gram, and great grandma. We have been so lucky to have been loved by her. She loved her family fiercely. She and Tom were an epic love story that spanned more than five decades. They are what marriage means. She was a loving and generous mom and grandma and great grandma. She loved her boys beyond measure. She would have done anything for her family.

June was fun, loyal, and kind. She loved to find a good deal and to putz in her yard. Flea markets and dollar stores were her jam. She was a wildcat as a young woman, feisty and always on the go. Their home was the place to gather. Whether she was in NY, NC, FL, or the islands, she was the glue that held our family together. She always knew what was going on in our lives and paid attention to all the details, big and small. To be loved by June was to be wholly and unconditionally loved. Even as she struggled with her health, she was incredibly present in our lives.

Our dear Junie will be mourned, missed, and celebrated.

June is preceded in death by her parents Don and Isabella Coney, her brother, Donald Coney; and her precious twin daughters, Missy Michelle Conklin and Kelly Conklin, along with extended family and friends all waiting to welcome her with love.

June is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Tom M. Conklin; sons, Rick F. Conklin and Fiance Melissa, Mike T. Conklin and daughter in law Nerrisa, Jason B. Conklin and wife Katie, Brian D. Conklin; brothers, Richard “Dick” Coney and wife Gail of Concord, NC, Ronald “Ron” Coney and wife Lisa of Winter Park, FL, Robert “Rob” Coney and wife Tami of Neversink, NY; grandchildren, Tiffany J. Kahn and husband Steve of Woodburne, NY, Jessica P. Conklin of Monticello, NY, Cortney E. Conklin of Stamford, CT, Zoie T. Bodenheimer and husband Nick of Asheville, NC, Lucas T. Conklin of Asheville, NC; and her great grandchildren, Isabelle Kahn, Abigail Kahn, Corinne T. Bodenheimer, and another on the way.

A Celebration of Life is going to be held on July 6, 2024 at Tom and June’s home in Monticello, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please surprise someone you love with a little gift, check in on a neighbor, call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, sprinkle some random kindness.  Our June was famous for giving little gifts ‘just because’ and we can’t think of a better way to honor her than to show love the way she did.
