Juanita Louise “Nonie” Herring Leverette, 75, of Asheville passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her daughter’s home in North Carolina. Born on April 4, 1946, in El Dorado, AR, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Lottie “Pat” Herring. She was a graduate of El Dorado High School and was retired from Nephron Pharmaceuticals. Nonie was a member of First Baptist Church of West Memphis, AR for most of her adult life and also attended Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Nonie loved fiercely, cared for, and prayed over her family; and her idea of family extended to many. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, James Edward Leverette, Sr.; son, James Edward Leverette, Jr.; and brothers, Lonnie “Buster” Herring and Lonnie Ray Herring. Surviving are her children, Mitchell Lee Leverette and his spouse, Vicky, of Jonesboro, AR, and Angela Leverette Utz and her spouse, Ensor Utz, of Asheville, NC; sister, Mary Alice Johnson and her spouse, Charles, of Buckner, AR; grandchildren: Candace Brooke Leverette and her spouse, Spud Deleplank of Edmond, OK, Mary Lauren Leverette of Hendersonville, NC, Sabrina Zoe Utz of Washington D.C., Hannah Fields Utz of Chapel Hill, NC, Ciara Nicole Leverette of Oklahoma City, OK, James Edward Leverette of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Lydia Jordan Utz of Asheville, NC; great-granddaughter, Jade Neal of Hendersonville, NC; and cousins, nephews, and nieces. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at act.alz.org. An informal memorial service is planned for April 10, 3-5 pm, at Tilden Rodgers Sports Complex Pavilion in West Memphis, AR.
