Joshua Honeycutt Obituary

Joshua Robin Honeycutt, born August 15, 1957, to parents Biss Honeycutt and Dessie Hensley Honeycutt, entered his heavenly home on June 19, 2024 after a lengthy illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lovie Honeycutt Carroll, and nephew Christian Kade Warriner.

He is survived by his daughter Misty Honeycutt Cates (David), brothers, Tony G. Honeycutt (June) and Carson B. Honeycutt, sister Stormy Honeycutt Nulty, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Calvary Division and was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a boisterous laugh. Not one to be dissuaded when he wanted to learn something new, he taught himself to play guitar. In his younger years, he would stand outside his cabin on Little Creek with his amplifier cranked up and serenade the neighbors with “Smoke on the Water,” thus earning the nickname “Rockin’ Robin.” He also taught himself to use a computer and published several books.

He enjoyed deer hunting and loved being in the woods. He never really cared much about the “trophy rack.” He was more concerned about the deer meat. When his friends teased him about his bounty, he would laugh and say, “You can’t eat antlers.”

Robin was big-hearted, protective, mischievous, and funny. He loved Jesus and enjoyed attending First Christian Church in Marion, NC before his declining health prevented him from doing so.

A Memorial Service will take place in the chapel at the WNC Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Anyone wanting to attend this Celebration of Life is welcome.
