John McKinney

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beloved patriarch and founder, John McKinney. John died peacefully at home under the loving care of his wife, Darlene. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and crew.

John was a man who sought perfection while existing in an imperfect world. But any good carpenter knows, the flaws in the wood are what give it character and quality is never an accident.

Thank you for everything you taught us, John. There are other worlds than these, good journey. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23 at 1:00 pm at Unitarian Universalist Church of Swannanoa Valley at 500 Montreat Rd, Black Mountain NC 28711.

In lieu of flowers or other tributes, the Turnwright Construction Legacy Fund is being created to honor John’s lifelong commitment to vocational training and workforce development. This fund will provide educational opportunities and stipends to high school students interested in pursuing a trade. Please contact Melissa directly at office@turnwrightllc.com to contribute.
