John Daniel Guthrie

John Daniel Guthrie, 42, of Weaverville, NC passed away on December 16, 2024.

John was born on April 28, 1982 in Asheville, NC to Karen Minery Guthrie and Randy Guthrie of Weaverville, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan Guthrie, Shirley Guthrie, John Minery, and Mary Minery; and uncle, Rick Guthrie.

John attended North Buncombe High School and AB Tech before becoming a self-employed mason. He worked closely with Collins Custom Stone Works. John loved the mason ring. It was hard work, but he said he did it for all the friendships and fun along the way.

John loved his family and never missed an occasion to be together. He was a friend to all and was always willing to help. John loved all motorcycles, especially the fast ones. He also liked the water, particularly the ocean. John was a dare devil and was always pushing the edge, not afraid of anything. John’s number one bucket list item was to go to Thailand. He was booked to go in January.

Surviving John are his parents Randy & Karen Guthrie, his brother, Dalton Guthrie (Cristina Ponder); nephew, River Guthrie (very special and loved by John); aunts and uncles, Sherry Guthrie, Ray Guthrie, Michele Reagan, Debbie Stamey, Mike & Rhonda Minery, J.J. & Penny Minery; cousins, Adam London, Jennifer Guthrie, Ashley Minery Kelly, Aimee Minery, and Jessica Rowland; Very special girlfriend, Sarah Blackmon.

A drop-in remembrance gathering will be held for John’s friends on January 18, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm at Ox Creek Community Center, 346 Ox Creek Rd Weaverville N.C. 28787
