John Wesley Elkin III, 71, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away on April 19, 2026, at Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Asheville, John was born on December 12, 1954, to the late John Wesley Elkin II and Marjorie Seay Snider. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Elkin.
John was a graduate of Asheville High School and Haywood Community College. He was a dedicated employee of Ingles Market and was deeply involved in his community, serving for many years as a coach and president for the West Asheville Little League.
A man of many interests, John had a passion for history and classical music. He found great joy in landscaping, coin collecting, and hunting for arrowheads.
John is survived by his son, Brandon Elkin; daughters, Brittney Elkin and Angela Parton (Marcus), all of Asheville; brother, Eric Elkin of Asheville; grandchildren, Tykeem Jones, Joshua Parton, Ethan Parton, and Gracie Parton.
A memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Church, 171 Beaverdam Road, Asheville, NC 28804 at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be payable to: Grand Lodge BPO Does-memo line Dogs for Better Lives donation in memory of John Wesley Elkin III.
