Jeremy Scott Powell

Jeremy Scott “Porky” Powell Sr. 40, of Leicester, NC, passed away August 1, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Jeremy was born on May 16, 1984 in Buncombe County, NC. He attended Woodland Terrace Missionary Baptist Church. Jeremy loved driving race cars, riding motorcycles, fishing and most of all his children.

Surviving Jeremy is his father, “James” Emerson Powell (Paula) of Leicester, NC; mother Angela “Maria” Brady of Leicester, NC; sons, Jeremy Scott Powell Jr. of Canton, NC, Oliver Keith Powell of Canton, NC; brothers, Shawn Brady of Leicester, NC, James Powell Jr. (Kayla) of Candler, NC, Aaron Powell (Kristin) of Leicester, NC; sister, Felecia Pegg of Fletcher, NC; steps sons, Michael Owenby (Brandi) of Moorehead City, NC, Jayce, Channing, Karter all of Dandridge, TN; stepdaughters, Aryan of Dandridge, TN, Kelsey Simmons (Christopher) of Moorehead City, NC; special niece, Mashay Carpenter of Leicester, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at 4:30pm at the church. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Woodland Terrace Baptist Church, 31 Woodland Terrace, Asheville, NC, with Pastor Bryan Henn and Pastor Marc Penley officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his good friend, Michael “Scooter” Dockery (Jarico) for all the help during this time.
