Jeffery Eugene “JJ” Johnson, son of Kimberly and Timothy Putnam and Dennis Craig Johnson was born May 20th, 1984, in Houston, TX. Moved to Asheville, NC at the age of 5 and joined Irene Wortham Center Azalea House. Jeffery later joined the Pep program at TC Robinson High School of Asheville, North Carolina as the first child from Irene Wortham to attend public school. In his adult life, Jeffery attended Adult Day Activity Program at Irene Wortham and LINCS at Davidson Family Services. He was lovingly cared for by Lacie and Matt Branch of Marion, North Carolina. Jeffery had the unique opportunity to be cared for by a multitude of caregivers and nurses over the years; his family will be forever grateful for the level of love and care Jeffery received for those in his life.
Jeffery was deemed the unofficial greeter during his time at ADA; his personality shined through, and he made everyone feel welcomed. He touched the lives of many through his smile and overflowing joy. Jeffery had a servant’s heart; he was always willing to jump in and help no matter where he was. Although he could not express his wants or feelings verbally, Jeffery found his own way of communicating with those he loved. He passed while surrounded by love in Asheville, NC on July 4th, 2023.
Jeffery’s beautiful personality and life will forever be cherished by his grandparents, Bernard and Patricia Bradach, his parents, Kimberly and Timothy Putnam and Dennis Craig Johnson, his siblings, Chris and Kristen Johnson, Brad and Tyler Putnam, Chelsea and Hunter Surrett, and Jennifer Johnson, and his nieces and nephews, Cayden Shope, Luke Johnson, Walker Surrett, and Skylar Putnam. Jeffery was blessed with family and friends extending past those named, his memory will live on through them.
