Jeffery Monroe Smith

Jeffery Monroe Smith, 62, of Etowah, NC, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Born on October 24, 1963, in Columbia, SC, Jeffery was the son of the late Ann Moirs. He was a graduate of Richland High School and later pursued his passion for technology, earning a degree in electronics. Jeffery dedicated his career to his work at Blue Ridge Appliance and Hearth.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Moirs (d. 2004); his brother, Gene Moirs (d. 2025); and his step-grandson, Kaden Tucker (d. 2020).

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 ½ years, Deborah Smith; his daughter, Makenna Leigh Ann Smith of Mills River, NC; and his stepsons, James Forbes III (and wife Tiffany) and Brayden Forbes, both of Hendersonville, NC. He also leaves behind his step-granddaughter, Thorn Forbes of Asheville, NC; his niece, Haley Troutman of Kentucky; and his nephew, Gerald Moirs of Maryland.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
