Janice Mariel Larson, 88, died on October 23, 2019 at her home. She was born to the late Helga and
Harry Larson in Kane, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister Harriet Rose, and is survived by her
sisters, Romayne Dill and Lorraine Hendrickson, her son, Kim, and daughter, Bonnie, as well as many
beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She especially enjoyed the newest family generation of
munchkins.
She graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA and Florida State University. She was a
teacher and a librarian.
She was an avid gardener and belonged to the Master Gardener group in Buncombe County where she
made many, many dear friends. She was a voracious reader and rarely espied a book that she would not
at least skim to assess its readability. However, her greatest passion was traveling. She made many trips
across the Pond with her sister and main traveling companion, Romayne, and many other friends,
including the famous, "Girls on Tour," an exuberant bunch of friends.
The family would like to thank her caregivers; including, Dr. Michael Messino, Dr. Lisa Reed, Dr. Colin
Bird, and her nurses at Hospice Karen Miller, Charlotte Skemp, and Samantha Riddle who were amazing
gifts to my mother's life.
She requested no service, and memorials can be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road,
Flat Rock, NC 28731.
