James Everette Sluder

James Everette Sluder, 84, of Asheville, NC passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. Born January 5, 1941 in Buncombe County, NC, he was a son of the late Launia Sluder Woody. He retired from Volvo Construction Equipment and enjoyed an occasional trip to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. He was very meticulous of his yard and enjoyed sitting on his porch sipping his morning coffee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sluder; siblings, Leon Sluder, Bobby Sluder, and Theresa Baker; brother-in-law, Don Jones; and sister-in-law, Sandra Sluder.  Surviving are his children, Jackie Gratton and her spouse, Mike, of Arden, NC, and Steve Sluder and his spouse, Pam, of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Brooke Sluder, Tristan Sluder and his spouse, Cassidy, all of Asheville, NC, and Carson Gratton of Arden, NC; great-grandchildren, Jackson Sluder of Asheville, NC, and Myla Gratton of Arden, NC; and sister, Joyce Jones of Asheville, NC. No services will be held at this time. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Care Partners Solace Center for the excellent care which they provided Mr. Sluder. Donation made be made to Care Partners Hospice Solace Center, 21 Belvedare Road, Asheville, NC 28803 in Mr. Sluder’s honor.
