James Broadus Jim Rumbough III, 60, of Asheville, NC, died in his home unexpectedly on January 23, 2024.
James was born on October 6, 1963, in Chicago, IL, to the late James Broadus Rumbough Jr. and Evelyn Cooper Hill. He is also preceded by his stepfather, George W. Hill.
James graduated from Enka High School in 1981. He was an outstanding athlete who played basketball and soccer during his high school years. His classmates voted him “Most Popular” as a superlative. James retired from the Asheville Fire Department as a Captain after 31 years. He loved the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, the Blackhawks, and model train sets. James was a drummer in the band “Ambush” in the 1980s. He loved spending time with family and friends. James was a good man that was loved by so many and was always willing to lend a generous helping hand to anyone. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Surviving James are his sisters, Kimberly Rumbough Cole of Asheville, NC, Jennifer A. Hill of Asheville, NC; nieces, Lauren Cole Tostevin of Charlotte, NC, Ana Huerta of Asheville, NC; and nephew, Andrew Cole of Asheville, NC.
