James (Jim) Edward Rogers, 79, of Asheville, NC, passed away on April 30, 2019, in his home of 48 years. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County.
Jim served in the Navy from 1956 to 1960 and then as a member of the Naval Reserves from 1960 to 1962. He served on the USS Hornet and the USS Molala. He retired as a welder, and spent his free time with a passion for designing and creating things for his family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Leonard Rogers, and his mother, Madge Knighten Ritchie. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Bradlee Elliott Wilson and Cory James Fox.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Linda Worley Rogers of the home, sons Tommy (Angie) Rogers of Mosheim, Tn, and Rusty (Tanya) Rogers of West Jefferson, NC, daughters Lisa Beddia of Greenville, SC, Lori (Jimmy) Fox of Weaverville, NC, and Lana (Timmy) Fox of Winston Salem, NC, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren with another on the way. He is also survived by brothers Tom Rogers (Pem), Buster (Judy), Bob, John (Barbara), sister Betty Quinones, brother-in-law Albert Worley (Lynn), many nieces and nephews, and a very special family friend and neighbor Ken Roberts (Stacy).
A private service will be held by the family.
