James “Andy” Andrew McKenzie

James “Andy” Andrew McKenzie, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on June 21, 1955 in Humboldt, Tennessee, Andy was the son of the late William Lee (Bill) McKenzie and Mary Feurstacke McKenzie. A talented craftsman with an eye for detail, Andy graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and went on to establish his own business, Jewel Pro Jewelry Repair, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Known by many as an exquisite jeweler, his dedication to his craft was matched only by his vibrant spirit and love for life.

Having traveled and lived all over the eastern United States, Andy grew a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him, and found peace in the scenic landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. He enjoyed spending time with those he cared about, whether water skiing, relaxing at the beach, or exploring the beautiful trails and waterfalls of Western North Carolina. He had a passion for live music, a lifelong love for The Allman Brothers Band, and found great joy in the simple pleasure of sitting on the porch at the end of the evening, with a glass of scotch in-hand.

In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Mitchell McKenzie.

His memory will be cherished by his family, including his children, William Ryan McKenzie, Brittney Nicole Schweitzer, and James Scott (Mandy) McKenzie; his dear sisters, Mary Lee Tidwell and Carolyn Curtis; his beloved granddaughters, Ava Clarke and Ainsley Schweitzer; his nieces and nephews, Melissa Rojas, Kelly Thomas, Greg Tidwell, Lisa Halliburton, and Stephen McKenzie; his lifelong friend from childhood Mark (Morocco) Smyth, along with many friends and loyal store patrons.

In lieu of immediate services, a celebration of life is planned for later this summer. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are complete.
