James "Bruce" Carter

James “Bruce” Carter, 83, of Mars Hill, NC passed away January 24, 2021 after a brief stay at Madison Health and Rehabilitation.
Bruce was born December 11, 1937 to the late Furman Clyde Carter and Allie Fisher Silva. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Silva.
Bruce proudly served our county in the US Army. After his military service, Bruce worked for and eventually retired from Micro Switch. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served the Lord for many years.  Bruce always had a smile and kind word for everyone he met.
Surviving Bruce is his loving wife of 34 years, Pauline King Carter; sons, Darrell Carter (Pat) of Mars Hill, Kevin Carter of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Renee Reeves (Dewayne) of Weaverville; sisters, Carolyn Miller of Elkton, MD, Janice Hicks (Ken) of Micaville, NC; brothers, Ronnie Carter (Ida) of Kernersville, NC, Tommy Silva (Colleen) of Lakewood, WA; special grandson Weston Reeves of Weaverville,  grandchildren Levi Carter of Mars Hill,  Sarah Carter of Silver Spring, FL; step grandchildren, Austin Reeves, Miles Reeves, April Riddle, Talana Greene, Amanda Tojin and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 4:00PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Mars Hill.
