Jack Eugene Ferrell, 75, of Lincolnton, NC passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Born January 12, 1949 in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Rhonda Jackson Ferrell and Frances Jeanette Howie. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart among other commendations. In 2004, he retired from a long career as a self-employed roofer. Jack was a talented gardener with his green thumb and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Celess Ferrell and sister, Marie Newell. Surviving are his children, Tony Wilcox of Fort Mills, SC, Frances Denise Ferrell and Jack Steven Ferrell both of Lincolnton, NC; sister, Louise Freeman and her spouse, Robert, of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Lauren Wilcox, Brianna Donaldson, Jason Bentley Jr., and Jacob Bentley; great-grandchildren, Chapin Donaldson, Skye Donaldson, and Braylen Bentley; and stepchildren, Teresa Oxendine and Eddie Howie, Jr. A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, 962 Old US Highway 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 with Pastor Phyllis Lambright officiating.
